Dear All,
A Scottish rally of a different kind!
A first-of-a-kind charity event shall be happening in Edinburgh through the night of Thursday 16th right through to the night of Friday 17th November.
Run by the Macdonald Academy of Arms, this shall be a 24 hour Sword-a-thon in aid of Children in Need, where the participants shall all be historical fencers, and shall be aiming to keep traditional swordsmanship running at the venue for 24 hours continuously from 10pm Thursday until 10pm Friday. Various historical swordsmanship groups from Scotland are involved including the Macdonald Academy of Arms (www.historicalfencing.org/Macdonaldacademy) the Dawn Duellists Society (http://www.dawnduellists.co.uk/) and the Aberdeen Swordsmanship Group
(http://www.swordsmanship.co.uk/).
We also now have one fencer from the Linacre School of Defence and Company of Maisters travelling all the way from Southern England to take part Smile
They shall be using a variety of traditional forms of European forms over the 24hr period in a marathon effort to raise funds for the Children in Need charity.
This entire event shall be open to the public for viewing with sponsorship being raised by all participants and donations taken on the door as entrance fee.
This is the first event of its kind and shall require a great deal of effort and endurance from the participants. 15+ participants are expected to be fencing through the event.
